Zero twenty is a boy band made up of different guys from around the world. All five guys competed on their countries version of “The Voice.” While it’s never really stated if they won their version of “The Voice”, which would be hard to say anyways because “The Voice” winners aren’t like the “American Idol” winners of the beginning season that are household names, they got together in Amsterdam and formed a band. On April 24, the band decided to release their first major single “Break My Heart Again.”
“Break My Heart Again” is a catchy song. it’s just a catchy song that sounds like all the other catchy boy band songs out these days. Sidebar: boy band songs sounding the same seems to be a common problem these days. It’s like everyone is trying to follow the same formula. News flash – it’s not working. Now back to the song, the vocals on the song sound like they were recorded on the demo and the producer thought they were amazing so he/she/they used them in the final mix. New flash – the vocals are very rough. There isn’t a valid excuse for rough vocals on a final mix. The vocals honestly could have made the song a hundred times better. It could have made the song stand out more. It’s also very obvious that some of the member are vocally stronger than the others. It sounds like is more than the ones with stronger vocals are more experienced. Some vocals also don’t feel like the fit in the style of the song. This is a common thing in boy boys, but it’s very noticeable on here. I would say painfully noticeable in parts but they do have nice voices.
Overall, the song should have probably went through another round of editing before they released. The main problems is how it sounds like every other boy band song and the vocals. But regardless, the media will more than likely eat up the song as one of the summer songs of 2015. Probably more so in Europe and have mild success here in ‘Merica. I hope to hear/see more from them. Here’s the music video for your viewing and listening pleasure:
