Arrow: My Name is Oliver Queen

My Name is Oliver Queen

Welcome to the most cleverly named “Arrow” recap blog on the interwebs, “Arrow.” It’s the season finale and boy, do we have a barn burners this week.

Let’s begin with the fact that Team Arrow is not dead.  I mean, they ruined it by the previews but I’m glad to know that there is a cure.  Too bad, that Oliver is a cure. The Flash saves them and they go out to Starling City to help Oliver save the city….whether they want to or not. Oliver sabotages the plane and ends up fighting the League with Nyssa before Ra jumps off the plane with the weapon and a parachute…because even the leader of the assassins can’t fly.

Fun fact: League of Assassins just doesn’t kill people with weapons, they also use bio warfare. Ra infects four of his men and has them to kill themselves so they can release the toxins into air. All I keep thinking is this is very thought out plan for people who are like ancient technology.  Team Arrow takes care of them, with the help of Speedy while Oliver takes on Raul. While this is happening, Felicity and Ray try to find a way to disperse the cure to the city.

Oliver and Ra battle to the death on a bridge while the SCPD watches on and getting ready to kill both of them. Oliver finally kills Ra and gets his ring. SCPD shoot him down and when you think he is dead, the Atom flies in and saves Oliver. Shocker he’s fine because the League has bulletproof armor and it was Felicity and not Ray that saved him. But let’s pause for a moment and reflect on something. The assassins have bulletproof armor but not armor that protects you against not against swords and arrows. Something doesn’t seem right there.

After the battle, Team Arrow has a sappy moment of reflections. Diggle leaves angrily, Malcolm takes over the League as Ra because that was part of his deal with Oliver, Ray dies in an explosion, Thea becomes Speedy, Laurel is a badass now, and Oliver and Felicity drive off into the sunset….yes, that actually happened.

Overall, I felt this episode was lackluster but it was still very good It just had me saying “that’s it?” I thought that it would have a little better ending to it. I didn’t like how they killed off Ray. I wish he died a little more heroically. It honestly just felt rushed and like it should have been a two parter and not just one episode finish.

This episode felt like it was the series finale because you had Oliver and Felicity running off and all the plots wrapped up to a point. I don’t know if this is for the new TV show but it makes me feel not know where it’s going for Season four. Will the Arrow return? What does it mean for Malcolm? Where is Oliver and Felicity going? I guess we will have to wait until the fall to know.
