How to Hashtag

If you are like me, you have social media. You see hashtags all over the place and whatnot and it’s rather annoying. If you want to hear more about how annoying it is, then you should read my article on it. But if you are someone who is using hashtags to promote your brand, then I’m going to tell you how because I’m a jack of all trades like that. Without further ado, here’s my pro tips on hashtags.

  • Make them short and sweet- When you are crafting a hashtag, you gotta make it short, sweet, and to the point. There isn’t a reason then to make them longer than 15 characters (not including the hashtag). It’s like baking a cake just to look at it. So if you are making a hashtag for your page that is trying to prevent women from being abducted by racist aliens from the other side of the dimension, then you need to some it up in one short burst. This one is going to be hard because it’s a long ass name. I would probably use something like #SaveOurWomen. #StopAliens would also work but that one is going to get your brand a very different group of fans. Example: this blog’s hashtag is #PopProject. It sums it up perfectly while letting everyone know what your brand is.
  • Post it in your content- You want to use your hashtag in post. The most successful content creates buzz and a hashtag allows you to see all the buzz in one spot. So instead of searching for buzzwords, you just search for the hashtag. Makes your life easier and allows group discussions to happen. People talking to people constantly creates more buzz.
  • Don’t use a lot- when using hashtags, you don’t want to use three when you really only need like one. You can’t help if others make up a hashtag but you can control the one you produce. Usually one hashtag will do you go. This is when it will get sticky because if you use more than one, it can create confusion and mass hysteria…probably less of the mass hysteria.

I hope that these tips will help you in your quest to be the best.
