#MemoriesCureMonday: VH1 Reality Shows

During the early to mid 2000s, VH1 wasn’t known for its wide array of music videos or contents. It was known for it’s extremely entertaining and trashy reality television shows. This came at a time where the show “Cheaters” was a thing. In case you didn’t know what the hell that show was, it followed cheating partners and catching them in compromising position. One guy was got with in his underwear getting whipped and gaged by a Transsexual. Another show like this was called “Blind Date.” This show followed people on  blind dates and it was just soft core porn but with censors and though bubbles. It was an interesting time in the beginning stages of reality television.

One day, the people at VH1 sat down and thought “How can we make trashier reality tv?” That is how the three trashiest and greatest reality tv shows were created: “Flavor of Love,” “Rock of Love with Bret Michaels,” and “I Love New York.” These three shows started the greatest time to be a fan of VH1 because it was like shit show train wreck. These  three shows started a large amount of spin-off that no one really asked for. There was like two, if that, that people wanted: “I Love New York,” which was a spin-off of “Flavor of Love,” and maybe “Charm School.”

“Flavor of Love” followed rapper Flavor Flav as he tried to find a girlfriend. This introduced the world to the Head Bitch In Charge Tiffany “New York” Pollard. She was so popular that she got “I Love New York.” New York was on the search for a man who would love her long time and enlisted her mother, Sister Patterson, to help.

“Rock of Love with Bret Michaels” came after and was Bret Michaels trying to find a groupie that would double as a girlfriend. That was it. It was the best.

These shows are pretty much my childhood….sad but I wouldn’t have any other way. These shows are a treasure and don’t take them seriously. If you take them seriously, then you will not like them. They are the best when you are just looking to go on a wild ride.

All three shows are now avaliable to view on Hulu (this isn’t a sponsor). I recommend watching them because they are the best.

Here’s a little bit of what you will get from the show:
