Top 5ive: ᗅᗺᗷᗅ

abba-sm

We are going way back to this one. On this edition of Top 5ive, I’ll be going through the wonderful discography of the Swedish pop group ABBA. During the late 70s to the early 80s, ABBA ruled the world with their catchy tunes and lyrics. You probably heard their songs before. A*Teens’ first album was modern Eurpop versions of their music and they have a broadway show called “Mamma Mia.” Great show btw.

Without ABBA, we probably wouldn’t have some of the music that we have today. Here’s the Top 5ive ᗅᗺᗷᗅsongs.

5. Waterloo

It’s the first song and it also forced people to know what the hell is Waterloo and why there was a war there. The song was written for the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest. For those who don’t know, it’s pretty much American Idol but only with original songs and each country has one song.  It’s a great and catchy song that will get stuck in your head all damn day.

4. Fernando

A wonderful and beautiful song about reminiscing about memories with friends. Sure, it might be about a war but it’s still such a beautiful and wonderful song.

3. Mamma Mia

Probably the most known song in their discography. It’s the title of their musical. It’s also probably the catchiest because of the hook and the beat. The opening is the most iconic of all the songs. Literally, there’s nothing better than.

2. Dancing Queen

The other well-known song in their discography. ABBA was singing party songs before they were cool. It’s better than “Mamma Mia.” It’s also the ultimate “let’s go get shit faced dancing” song. “Dancing Queen” is all about dancing in the club. If that isn’t a party song, then I don’t know what is.

1. The Winner Takes It All

The most beautiful breakup song ever. It will change your life if you listen to it. The song was written at the end of ABBA’s career and it’s probably the most profound. The song is about what goes through someone’s mind when they go through a divorce. It’s fits almost every sad life event.
