Single Review: Louis Tomlinson and Bebe Rexha are on and off again in “Back to You”

back to you sm

Louis Tomlinson is back in a new single! It’s his second solo single and boy, is this single so much better than his first single. There wasn’t any wrong with the first single just to clarify but it would have been way better.

Before “Back to You,” I really haven’t heard of this Bebe Rexha lady. If you are like me and didn’t know who she was, she’s an American singer-songwriter that was on G-Eazy’s “Me, Myself, and I” before Britney slayed it. She also wrote some songs for some other people. Her music isn’t bad actually. She released a few EPs and that’s about it.

“Back to You” is a slow bop that you will get addicted to if you aren’t careful. It’s an infectious song with lyrics that hit home to a certain degree because they are talking about an on and off relationship that is a little toxic. The chorus is what really get’s stuck in your head. I also enjoyed hearing Louis say fuck and bullshit. It’s always a good time hearing people drop an f-bomb that you wouldn’t normally hear.

The only thing I had to complain about when it came to the song is the fact that it started out with Bebe part in the song. When I first heard it, I wasn’t sure it was the right song. It was off-putting just because it’s Louis Tomlinson featuring Bebe Rexha and not the other way around. That’s pretty much my only complaint. It’s a little complaint and it’s probably me just nitpicking. Update: Louis was being a gentleman and letting the lady sing first. Not 100% confirmed.

The music video is just following them around as they go on about their life before reunited and pretty much sing the song out. Not sure what the point of all of it is but it wasn’t a bad music video. It could have been a little bit better. I can’t wait to hear the song performed because I feel like it’s going to be YUUUGGGGEEE (please make sure you say that in a Donald Trump voice).

“Back to You” is classic pop bop with an infectious hook and beat. The fact that Bebe starts off the song and not the main artist is confusing at first but you get used to it. This is probably the strongest single that has been put off by the someone from One Direction that didn’t leave the group.
