Shawn Mendes gives the world his most power video yet
Shawn Mendes released the video for one of his newish single “In My Blood” yesterday. The video is the first off of his upcoming third album. “In My Blood” was written by Shawn to capture the feels that he was having during an anxiety attack. The song is also more of a rock that what Shawn did in the past. “In My Blood” had a John Mayer feel to it.
The video for “In My Blood” is a simple yet power concept. The video features Shawn laying on the floor. As the song progresses the scene changes around him like the seasons. It starts out depressing and rather sad before it starts to get better as the song comes to a close.
The video is visually how Shawn created the song. During many interviews, Shawn stated that he wrote “In My Blood” based off his own experience dealing with anxiety. He stated that he was laying on the floor of a bathroom when he had an anxiety attack. It’s a great video and it’s extremely powerful, however it’s rather boring. There really isn’t much to it and it makes boring to watch. The video does remind me of James Blunt’s video for “Beautiful” because it’s similar concept.
“In My Blood” isn’t a bad video. It has a power video with a message that it will always be okay, even if you don’t think it will. It’s just it focus too much on the message and not being able to tell it in a way that will capture the viewers interest. It’s extremely artistic and I like it. But it’s just not something that will get people captivated if you aren’t looking at the artistically.
