Get ready to avoid ‘F The Prom’

In every generation, there comes a movie where you watch and you just think to yourself “Man, this movie should get an Oscar.” Luckily, this movie isn’t that movie. I decided to watch “F! The Prom” and well, I slightly regret it. Here’s my thoughts on this movie so you don’t have to put yourself through the torture of watching it. You’re Welcome.

There’s no good quotes to go here

“F The Prom” was a direct-to-video movie released in 2017. It’s a teen comedy that was produced by YouTuber Benny and Rafi Fine, known as the Fine Brothers. Because it’s produced by them, there is A LOT of cameos from the cast of their “Teens React,” and “College Students React” series. Because it’s a direct-to-video release, you can only imagine the big names are in this movie. For the sake of time, I won’t list any of the actors besides the actual big name: Madelaine Petsch, aka Cheryl Blossom from “Riverdale.”

The movie is about a group of outcast that tries to seek their revenge on the popular kids after they made their lives miserable for all four years of high school. They then team with one of the popular girls that are scorned by those same people. They devise a plan to humiliate the prom king and queen that they chose.

Madelaine’s expression is me during this movie

The plot of this movie is inconsistent. It’s not consistent at all. It’s rather frustrating. The ending is the most frustrating part of the entire movie. There’s no pay off in the end. The main characters do ride off into the sunset but it’s not the ending you want. It’s not a fulfilling ending at all. It actually makes you hate the movie more. Like, what was the point of the entire film? The fact nothing came out of the plot set up through the entire movie just leaves you made because the last 92 minutes was a waste.

The acting in the film isn’t anything to cry home about. Madelaine performance is the best in the entire film. They pretty much had her play a bitchy and annoying version of Cheryl Blossom. Other than that, it was just all just okay or bad. Most so with on the okay side. It definitely felt a low budget movie that belongs in the Walmart $3.75 movie bin. Yep, It’s not even good enough for the $5.00 movie bin.

I would really like to see what happened behind the scenes because it seems like they stopped caring halfway through the film. This movie just seems extremely rushed and half-assed. Nothing about this film comes across as consistent and good. The only consistent thing about it is the fact that it’s not consistent. In concept, it could have been good. It’s been overdone but it still could have been good. It just wasn’t pulled off right in order to make this work.

The worst part of all of this is that the first half of the film, while still a hot mess, was at least trying to carry on the plot. It wasn’t until the second act that it seems like they abandoned the plot. It’s kind of like they threw their hands up in the air and said “F This Movie.” I think Shane Dawson’s movie “Not Cool” was a better movie and that’s saying a lot.

There really wasn’t any moral of the story to his film either. Like usually there’s some sort of important message. Especially when it has some sort revenge plot/story line. Nope, there’s none. If there is one, then it’s hidden behind all the crap. This movie was painful to watch.

Verdict

“F The Prom” is just a horrible movie. It had so much potential to it but it was just wasted. It really should have been called “F This Movie” because it was just a waste of time. There’s no happy ending that you want from the plot and the ending just makes the entire plot meaningless because there’s no real pay off to anything. I wouldn’t buy this movie because it’s honestly not worth it. It’s on Netflix for free.
