‘The Circle’ is something everyone needs to watch

I have a new addiction and boy, it’s one that I didn’t think I would have. Netflix has released its latest reality show, and frankly, it’s much needed in this day and age of reality television. It takes our love for social media and social experiments, and make it all into one big lovely hot mess. It’s time we talk about “The Circle.” Not to be confused with the 2017 film of the same name. Spoiler: it was meh.

It pays to not be yourself

“The Circle” is a reality show where eight players move into an apartment and use a social media app, called The Circle, to compete for $100,000. The players never meet face-to-face but use social media to judge, make alliances, and rank their fellow players. Like most things that we love, it originally came from the British. We have to love the British for some of our favorite shows.

The two players at the top of the rankings will then decided the player that will get blocked, aka eliminated, from the competition. There are games/activities that they use to get to know info about each other. New players join the game at different times throughout. The winner is decided by the player voting and ranking everyone based on who was most popular.

The key to playing and winning “The Circle” is how you are being perceived online. It’s on how you are interacting with your fellow players. It’s a modern take of “Big Brother.” Let’s be real for a moment, US “Big Brother” has been slacking recently and isn’t as good as it once was. This gave me old school BB vibes, and I was all here for it. The personalities are big and bold and actually there to play the game in front of them. Sure, it probably won’t last long, but it will still be good while it continues.

If you like a good reality show, like “Big Brother,” then I highly recommend check it out. New episodes come out every Wednesday, with the last set coming out on January 15th, 2020. It’s worth your time and worth watching. It’s literally everything.
