We finally got the official video for Liam Payne’s new single “Strip That Down” and I have some thoughts on it. I always have thoughts so what’s new with that.
“Strip That Down” video isn’t bad. On the contrary, if you were to trade Liam out for Nick Jonas then you wouldn’t even notice. That is what’s wrong with the video. It’s very old school style as there’s no story to the video but rather just dancing, brooding poses, and blank backgrounds with colorful lights. It totally works for the video. Liam looks very good in it, especially with his minimal dance moves that aren’t as grand as the dancers in the video. But the fact that it looks like the video that Nick did with Sage the Gemini, just hurts it. I noticed it from the first two minutes and now I that’s all I see. I watched the video twice and it was still there.
Another thing that is where’s the shirtless scenes with Liam that was shown in all the promo trailers? Did they tease us with it or was it deleted from the entire video? For a song/video that says “Strip that down for me,” it’s a rather PG video. There’s no stripping in the video at all. It’s sexy but when you hear the word strip, you are thinking less clothes involved sexy. The promos for it was slightly misleading in that.
The part in the video that gets funny is when Quavo gets on-screen and Liam goes from looking a brooding sexy man to a lost child. He just comes across as out-of-place and like he didn’t belong at all. The video did shed his One Direction image, which was hard since they are the only boy band with tattoos of this generation. One Direction’s image was just always confusing because they were suppose to this “boy next door” wholesome guys that you can bring home to your parents but yet they looked the opposite with their tattoos. But the video did make him seem less wholesome. But like I said above, it could have been more less wholesome.
“Strip That Down” isn’t a bad music video. It does it purpose in shedding Liam’s One Direction image and promoting the song. The fact that it’s too much like Nick Jonas and it’s holding back on the sex is what’s truly holding it back. Oh, and the fact that as soon as Quavo comes on-screen, Liam looks like that lost little boy in the supermarket looking for his mommy.

We finally have every member of One Direction’s first single. Capping off the last launched solo career is Liam Payne, who’s single is way overdue if I’m honest. He was the wild card solo career because we could see where the others were going but not Liam.
“Strip That Down” is the most pop and hip-hop-centered single that any of the 1D members have put out. The single is pretty much one of the best solo singles out of the group. While it has pissed off the Directioners, but that’s not really hard. I’ve been pissing them off since 2011 over Little Things. Get it? The song really kills its.
The beat of the song and how it’s arranged really is catchy and just makes you want to dance and bust a groove to it. The lyrics are also catchy as fuck. They are the kind that gets stuck in your head for months and days. They just go so well with the beat. The song is just an extremely fun song that will make you want to get down with your bad self, which is what the lyrics are about. Liam just wants to have fun and get down. He just wants have a good time. It’s a sexy song with sexy lyrics. It’s just a sexy time to listen to.
His vocals on the song aren’t really anything spectacular but are down in a way that the song makes them spectacular. It simple vocals that shine with the type of song it is. Liam’s background vocals that are underneath the main are great and add another layer to the song. It just makes the song even better. You can tell how much thought went into making the song. Even the rap totally works with this song. It’s been hit or miss lately when it comes to rappers in songs. But it completely works with this song. I would still like a solo version of the song though.
Now let’s talk about the line in the song that is pissing off the One Direction fanbase. Here’s the line:
You know I used to be in 1D, now I’m out free.
People want me for one thing, that’s not me,
This apparently made them turn on him fast. They are saying stuff like “Liam, you weren’t in prison.” Sometimes, I forget how crazy fandoms are because they are probably reading too much into and not looking at the lyrics and how they are positioned in the song. It’s more about being able to do things he enjoys and not having to act a certain way because it doesn’t fit the “group image.” Liam is finally able to be himself and do things he enjoys, like make a pop/hip-hop song that would never fly if he was still in 1D.
This is a good song. It’s up there with Zayn and Harry’s first singles as one of the best. It just an extremely catchy song with an extremely catchy beat. I like how Liam isn’t sticking to what people would expect him to do.

Today, Ariana Grande released her latest video for her single “Everyday.” It’s a lot to talk about because it’s a lot not to get unless you think about it.
“Everyday” features rapper Future in it and talks about how her boyfriend is given her that good shit that makes her not quit. It’s pretty much a much better version of what Fifty Shades of Grey wants to be. She’s thinking about the sex her and her man is having. Or she’s thinking about her love affair with oversized puffy jackets. Literally, what is her obsession with them. They are obviously too big for her if she can’t even have them cover her shoulders. The 90s called and they want their oversized coat back.
Anyways, the video is pretty much Ariana watching people get it on as the public either stares or just looked on in disgust. These people are all shapes, sizes, races, age, and gender. Ariana is the only one in the entire video that is cheering these people on and isn’t looking like she is judging them. The video is showing that love doesn’t judge people and neither show we. A great message for today where we have to judge the person who uses the bathroom next to us.
Overall, the song is great and the music video is great for the message, but seems weird until the message clicks. That a good thing and a bad thing. It just depends on how one wants to see it. It’s good for the message but if it doesn’t click, then it just looks stupid.
Here’s the video for your ears to enjoy:

Ah yes…Let us discuss one of my favorite people in the world (aside from Demi that is)…Ariana Grande. If you have not yet heard of this 19, soon to be 20 year old powerhouse of talent, then you’ve probably been living under a rock.
Ariana Grande is a singer/actress best known for her role as the redheaded, very “special”, spunky Cat Valentine on the beloved Nickelodeon comedy Victorious. Grande portrayed the role of Cat on the show from 2010 until the show’s abrupt end in early 2013.
Now….Ariana is no one trick pony, and neither is her hair. She ditches the red locks when she is not playing Cat, and is hard at work on her music career. Let me tell you…this girl can SING. Think voices of angels, mixed with Mariah Carey, and a dash of fierceness and power of some of the oldschool female “greats” in music…That’s Ariana. Don’t believe me? Check out her Youtube channel, “ohsnapitzari”, and take a listen to some of her covers and acapella work, (her “Emotions” cover anyone? Crazyness,), as well as her recent collaboration with singer Mika.
Ariana has recently released her hit single “The Way” featuring Mac Miller. The song has routinely been in outstanding standing on the charts, as well as received positive feedback and love from mainstream radio play. Her debut album, reportedly titled “Daydreamin’” or “Honeymoon Avenue” as of recently, is scheduled to drop in August under Republic Records.
Upcoming appearances include Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on June 14th. As the “Pop Project Featured Artist of the Week”, you KNOW we love her here, and can’t wait for her upcoming projects. And just between us…let’s just say we think she will make our show even more “popular” in the upcoming season… 😉
