Miley Cyrus returns to form with ‘She is coming’

After two years of no word on an official album, Miley Cyrus has returned and given the world a new album. But unlike her previous albums, Miley decided to torture us by splitting her album into three different EPs. I think that Miley is just looking to torture us with anticipation. Let’s talk about “SHE IS COMING” from Miley Cyrus. There’s going to be a lot of capitalization.

“SHE IS COMING” is the first of three EPs from Miley Cyrus. Along with “SHE IS HER,” and “SHE IS EVERYTHING,” this makes up her seventh studio album, “SHE IS MILEY CYRUS.” Yep, Miley is trying to kill us. “SHE IS COMING” is Miley’s first EP since 2009’s “The Time of Our Lives.” Miley reunites with Mike Will Made It as well as teaming up with Mark Ronson again, whom she previously worked with on their single “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart.”

The EP is the love child if all of her music got together and had a love child. I’ll be frank; I was worried about this album because the promo videos on Miley’s social media made it look like she was making a “Miley Cyrus and her Dead Petz 2.” I don’t know if you remember that album, but it was a hot mess. I was pleasantly surprised when I started listening, and it was more like “Bangerz” meets all her other discography.

The EP is only six songs and it honestly the perfect amount for it. Each song brings something different to the overall feel and theme. It has a little bit of everything. From the female empowerment anthem “Mother’s Daughter” to about having sex and not being the same person as before in “Cattitude,” this EP has something for everyone on the album.

My only complaint with the album is that the flow of the EP is nonexistent. It doesn’t feel like there is no rhyme nor reason. It’s slightly all over the place. It’s not a bad thing, but it does create an uneven listening experience. Like you go from a dance song to two songs that are slower in pace before going back to a dance song. I, personally, would like it to be evener, with the song listing and flow. It feels like 4 out of 6 songs have been slow songs.

“SHE IS COMING” is a great album and feels like the right step in where Miley Cyrus is going with her music. I enjoyed listening to the EP and cannot wait to hear what comes next. I just wished that the album has had a better flow and was more spaced out with the songs. But overall, it’s a good taste of what is next to come, which will be on the EP “SHE IS HERE.” Sidenote: I’d lose my cool if there’s a second album called “SHE IS HANNAH MONTANA.”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5
