Movie Review: ‘Baywatch’ saves the summer

There’s been a lot of television shows that have been rebooted into a movie franchise of some sort. This is the case yet again with the hit 90’s television show “Baywatch.” For those that didn’t see the original television show, it just followed a team of lifeguards as they balanced drowning, serial killers, endangered animals, murder, petty arguments, sexual tension, and love. It’s also known for running in slow motion down a beach.

”Baywatch” follows the same premise as the television show, except for it doesn’t capture the slow motion boob bouncing as the original. The movie follows the Baywatch lifeguards as they investigate a series of murders that happen at their beach as well as drugs that keep washing up on shore. The movie is an action comedy that takes itself too seriously while at the same time making fun of the fact that they are lifeguards acting like police without any training or jurisdiction to do so. This movie doesn’t know what kind of movie that it wants to be. It works for the movie and at the same time, it also makes you wonder just what you are watching. The movie opens with a guy getting his erect penis stuck in-between the wooden boards in a chair to the intense action sequence involving slow motion diving that shows of dem abs on Zac Efron. At first, it kind of leaves you like “what.the.fuck?” and then you just kind of get used to it.

The cast itself is very good. The comedic timing of everyone is on point. It’s the inappropriate comedy when it’s trying to be serious that hurts the film. Yeah, it helps lighten the mood but it’s too much sometimes.  Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron work really well together. I want more of them together. Like give me an entire movie with them and it will be a great movie. The other highlight of the casting is the fact two of the original “Baywatch” cast is in the movie as their characters, whose names are also in the film with two different actors playing them. David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson also interact with the new counterparts but it’s just kind of bland. While no one questions why they share the same names, it still good to see the two big name that made the original series. It also shows that this is a more of a continuation of the franchise.

“Baywatch” is a good movie that is extremely enjoyable to watch. It’s fun to watch but the fact it goes from serious to comedy hurts the good film. The cast is the best part of the films because they work together so well. I hope there’s a sequel because I would love to see more of Dwayne and Zac Efron.

Taylor Swift mocks herself and shades all in ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ video

LWYMD SM

Tonight during the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift proved why she gets the last laugh when she premiered the video for her latest single “Look What You Made Me Do.”

The video for the first single off of “Reputation” is pretty much a recap of every feud that Taylor Swift is currently in or formerly in. Directed by Joseph Kahn, he made the previous four Taylor Swift videos as well as the gritty Power/Rangers reboot movie, the music video is literally everything I never knew I wanted in a Taylor Swift video. As soon as it started with a tombstone that read “Here lies Taylor Swift’s Reputation,” I was shook.

Throughout the video, it follows Taylor in the house from her “Blank Space” video as she has a killer dance break like Beyoncé, wrecks her car as the paparazzi captures the moment, becomes a fan of S&M, and other things. Each scene in the video seems to reference a feud that she was in. It’s hard and rather funny to guess who catch one is about. The video’s main themes were power, betrayal, and reputation. All of which is heavily featured in really creative and fun ways.A

The best part? The interactions between all the former Taylor Swift personas. She hinted toward the Kayne shade when had one of the personas called another a bitch and then the 2008 VMA one ended the video with the most iconic line that Taylor said when she “found out” that she was a part of Kayne’s song “Famous.” It’s the quote in the opening gif. Literally the best quote ever! Taylor also quote what he critics said about her in the video in a little bit of humor. It was nice to see her say that she’s aware of what they are saying about her.

”Look What You Made Me Do” video proves that while the song is being polarizing, Taylor Swift can still put out a kickass video and snatch some edges from people who hate her.

Taylor Swift goes dark and poppy in new single ‘Look What You Made Me Do’

taylor lg

Oh my lucky stars! It is a wonderful day to be a lover of pop music. So much new music is out and Taylor Swift has returned with her newest single since 2016’s  hit “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.” I love Taylor Swift. She doesn’t love me. Sigh.

”Look What You Made Me Do” is the first single off of her sixth album “Reputation.” THIS SONG IS LITERALLY EVERYTHING. It is so different from anything we have ever heard from Taylor Swift at this point. She pretty much reinvented herself during her hiatus and she is definitely taking her music into a different approach. I’M HERE FOR IT.  If I had to guess, I’m calling it the sequel song to either “Blank Space,” “Bad Blood,” or both. I’m fine with either one honestly because it such a good song.

While “1989” is Taylor Swift first official pop album, this song takes it to another level. The song is just so catchy that you can’t help but just dance and sing-a-long with it. I’ve literally been listening to it on repeat since it came out. I can’t get enough of it because it’s pop perfection at its best. It slayed all the other music that was released this week. It was definitely worth the wait that we had to suffer through. This is the most iconic line from the entire song:

“I’m sorry, the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now.”

“Why?”

“Oh ’cause she’s dead!”

The song is your revenge anthem for anyone that has done you wrong. Which is fitting because the internet believes that Taylor allegedly wrote the song for her arch rival and future president candidate Kanye West. In case you have been living under a rock, these two haven’t really gotten along since Kayne’s infamous speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards where he hijacked the stage during Taylor’s speech to let her and the world know that Beyoncé should have won Best Female Video. This also got Barack Obama to go call the jackass a jackass. sigh, I miss Barry O. Kanye also wrote a line about Taylor in his song “Famous,” where talks about possible having sex with Taylor because he “made that bitch famous.” This whole Taylor vs Kanye feud is harder to keep up with that his in-laws.

“Look What You Made Me Do” is probably the best song that Taylor has put out yet. It’s different that anything she put out before and it’s a welcome change in a world where artist don’t really take any risk these days. This song shook me to my core. I WANT MORE TAYLOR SWIFT.

Big Brother 19: Week 8 Breakdown

BBbanner-sm

Blah. Blah. Blah. It’s still the Paul show and I’m pretty much over the game. Let’s talk about this week because frankly, it’s was boring. Welcome to the Boring Brother breakdown.

There’s only so many times you can scream this at your TV. Yes, there’s a caption on the opening GIF

After the double eviction, Paul survived and at this point, you might as well hand over the money to him because frankly, he’s going to win it. And like I said before, really don’t hate the game that Paul is playing but rather I just hate the friendsheep that are literally

My reaction every time they don’t go after Paul

handing him this game. It’s like they totally forgot that he played last year and made it to Final Two last year. Like, how stupid can these people really be? I keep asking this to myself every week and yet, they are continuing to be a bunch of stupid idiots. They are making Cody Calafiore, the stupid idiot from BB16 that gave away $500,000 by choosing Derrick over Victoria that didn’t do anything all game, look like a less of the idiot. But this week on the Paul show, he threw the HOH competition to President’s Day that way his hands stay clean. But really, it’s his HOH. Paul also revealed that he’s playing all the pairs in the house. If he was a better BB player, he would have named his plan “Operation Third Wheel.” All the best plans have operation in the title of them. It’s not a bad plan until they start to talk to each other.

Mark was the one that was evicted this week and I can’t say that he didn’t really deserve it this week because he made probably one of the stupid moves. There’s a new

Yes, you all are

temptation in the game in the form of a tree that grants a person power in the game each week. Mark decided to grab one and received the power to save a friend from the threat of eviction and guess who the big old teddy bear chose…fucking Paul. Now, Paul wasn’t going to be on the block, to begin with. Do you really think that Boxing Day was really going to put him up? Mark should have used it as a way to form an alliance or something like that. I get that it was an attempt to “cover his ass” but it was a horrible idea that really didn’t help him. I do give him props for trying his best to flip the house and not just giving up like Jessica and Cody did after the veto. This was pretty much the major events this week because it was a boring week.

At this point in the game, Kevin is the only person besides Paul that hasn’t been on the block. While he’s going to go up before Paul, he has a really good social game. Alex is going to be in third but she’s looking more like a threat due to her winning. It would be a slightly better end to the season if it was Kevin/Paul/Alex. It would still be a horrible season but it would be the battle of all game styles you see in BB. I’m also still wanting to see Raven/Paul in final two. The thought of him still losing to her warm my hearts.
